Country Patches B&B is located in Paradise, Lancaster County, in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. This stately Victorian home was built in 1877 as a wedding gift by John Steele Witmer for his son, John, and his new bride, Cecilia, the daughter of the Mayor of St. Louis at that time. The property includes the original 1877 home with additions, a guest barn with garage space and guest accommodations, abundant parking, and a massive historic oak tree. The solid brick exterior of the home was softened with gingerbread moldings and a rambling porch. The large Burr Oak tree strategically placed in the center of the side yard was transplanted from Haverford College, the alma mater of senior John Witmer. In 1970, the homes purpose was renewed when the Reed family transformed it into an art gallery named The Stewart M. Gallery. The current owners purchased the home in 1996 and have meticulously refinished and restored it during their twelve years of ownership, bringing Country Patches B&B into the 21st century. From the first floor to the third, a stay in their inn reminds travelers of life in a gentler time. Guests enter the home through an arched double doorway into a large center hall with original hardwood floors. The end of the center hall features an exquisite open three story spiral staircase. The first floor common areas include a huge parlor, used as the guest dining room, a library, and a powder room. The first floor owners area includes a renovated kitchen with copper counters with a granite accent, a dining room with two large built-in china cabinets, and an enormous family room with wood-burning fireplace. A brand new addition off of the kitchen houses the laundry room, a full bathroom, and ample storage space. A back staircase from the kitchen leads to the owners bedroom suite with full bath on the second floor. The property includes two guestrooms with private baths on the second floor, two deluxe suites with private whirlpool baths on the third floor, and two one-bedroom apartments housed in the guest barn. The guest rooms on the second floor have Victorian decor, while the third floor deluxe suites are decorated with refined elegance. The guest barn apartments offer simple country decor with a large open kitchen/dining/living area, one bedroom and one full bathroom. The welcoming and comfortable stay at Country Patches is like a Paradise all its own! Country Patches B&B offers a prime location with high visibility along a key tourist thoroughfare. Lancaster County is one of the busiest areas for tourism in the region, including more than 8 million visitors each year. The turnkey sale includes real estate, FFE, training and business goodwill. A detailed package of information is available to prospective buyers upon signing a confidentiality agreement.
